About the print

The process of Serigraph involves pressing ink through a stenciled mesh screen onto a surface to create a print. Each mesh screen is stretched tightly over a frame and is usually coated with a photosensitive fluid (emulsion). The mesh screens are exposed to light, washed, and dried. In Sounding Series, No. 1, the ink is layered 70 separate times through different mesh screens, one tone at a time. Unlike a reproduction, a serigraph is a unique, hand-pulled original and is created as a limited edition.
